What Was Your Journey from School to Work Like?
As of 2024, Mongolia has 739,095 young people between the ages of 15 and 29, accounting for around 20% of the total population. Previous studies show that after graduation, young people navigate diverse and some challenging paths as they transition into the labor market and seek employment.
To better understand these transitions, the Independent Research Institute of Mongolia (IRIM) has launched a new survey titled “Youth School-to-Work Transition Survey,” commissioned by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The study aims to explore the current employment conditions of young people and the factors that influence their entry into the labor market.
Data collection for the survey will take place in Ulaanbaatar and Darkhan, covering 700 households. All household members aged 18 to 49 will be surveyed to gain insights into youth employment trends.
The data collection of the survey will be conducted from April to May 2025. For more information about the survey, please contact the project coordinator, M. Saruul, at saruul@irim.mn or call 7011 7101.
