🟠A pilot project titled “Promotion of Gender-Smart Business in Mongolia” has been started to implement the recommendations of the previous survey.

🔸In April 2025, IRIM conducted a “Data collection survey on Gender-Based Violence in Mongolia” supported by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and presented the findings to relevant stakeholders.

🔸One of the key findings revealed that, in 2024, among the 1,809 individuals who sought assistance from temporary shelters and One-Stop Service Centers, only 16% received social welfare support, and 1.6% were referred to employment opportunities. This indicates that there is a critical need for longer-term recovery and economic empowerment programs to help survivors rebuild their lives and achieve financial independence.

🔸Based on these findings, the survey recommended developing programs that promote the economic empowerment and employment of GBV survivors. In response to the needs of womenincluding GBV survivors for economic empowerment and in alignment with JICA’s gender equality and women’s empowerment policy, the pilot project “Promotion of Gender-Smart Business in Mongolia” is being implemented from October 2025 to February 2026.

🔸Within the scope of the project, research will be conducted to identify key challenges faced by women and by companies and financial institutions in Mongolia in terms of women’s economic empowerment, followed by gender, financial literacy, and business management training for women entrepreneurs and vulnerable groups, and gender training for companies and financial institutions. The project will also include a business idea competition, among other planned activities.
