Preventing Gender-Based Violence Should Begin in Early Childhood Education
A results discussion of the study “Current Situation of Gender-Based Violence”, commissioned by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), was successfully held today.
The study highlights that childhood exposure to violence, lack of family-based education, and early development of stereotypical views on gender and human rights contribute to the normalization and tolerance of violence.
Therefore, participants emphasized the importance of starting gender-based violence prevention efforts at the preschool level. A family-centered approach that promotes civic awareness, understanding of human rights, and zero tolerance for violence from an early age is essential.
The findings will serve as an evidence-based foundation for future interventions by JICA and other relevant stakeholders.
