In July 2016, the MUB and TAF co-sponsored the KOICA project in Korea to build women's economic capacity, help them solve their business problems, and increase the contribution of women entrepreneurs to the city's economy.

The first phase of the project was implemented by Development Solutions NGO, the Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MNCCI), and Golomt Bank - between 2016 and 2018 - and was evaluated by IRIM in 2018. The End-line Study of the second phase of the project (the 2021 End-line Study) was conducted by IRIM - in a two-month period from 28 March, 2021 - and involved project beneficiaries and stakeholders.

The 2021 End-line Study examined the socio-economic indicators of the WBC project and assessed the status of, and changes in, the businesses. It also assessed the effects of project activities on businesses, beneficiaries’ satisfaction, the capacity of women entrepreneurs, and the sustainability of the Project.

Particular objectives included the following:

  • Identify the demographics, and social-economic situations of the project beneficiaries and their participation in the Project;

  • Identify the existing status, and changes, the businesses;

  • Assess the effectiveness and implementation of 18 types of project activities, along with beneficiaries’ satisfaction, and the identification of their needs;

  • Assess individuals’ entrepreneurial skills and effectiveness, and project-related activities impacts upon their business;

  • Assess the sustainability of the Project (and its importance), and develop conclusions and recommendations.

Both quantitative and qualitative research methods were used in the study. To evaluate the results of the Project, a questionnaire (260) was used to collect data from WBC project beneficiaries, while an in-depth interview method was used to collect data from graduates of the Incubator Program. Furthermore, apart from a desk review, in-depth interviews (15) were conducted with the Project’s co-implementers and key stakeholders, including: TAF, Development Solutions NGO, Solutek System Inc, Golomt Bank and the MNCCI.
