IRIM has a strong agenda in providing rigorous evidence on ‘what works, how, why and at what cost’ through impact evaluations. Within this goal, IRIM participated in the “Making Impact Evaluation Matter” conference which brought together 600 participants – a mix of researchers, policymakers, programme managers and development practioners - for the first major international conference on impact evaluations and systematic reviews in Asia.

The event, which ran from 1 to 5 September 2014 in Manila, was organised by 3ie in partnership with the Asian Development Bank and the Philippine Institute for Development Studies. Parallel sessions offered the opportunity to have focused discussions on impact evaluations of development programmes in particular sectors like education, health, infrastructure, climate change, agriculture, social protection and community-driven development.

IRIM was able to share its experience in conducting impact evaluation studies in Mongolia. We had productive conversations with researchers, policymakers and practitioners on making impact evaluations matter in real world settings thanks to the conference.

In 2014 alone, IRIM’s researchers and delegates participated in several major conferences including PDAC in Canada, World Sociological Association Congress in Japan, Gender Sensitive Policy Making in South Korea, Integrity Action in Hungary and Mongolian Research in USA.
